Frequently asked questions when sending your unit in for annual calibration

How long will the calibration take?

It typically takes us 3 days to get it in and out of our office. Add shipping time on both ends and this will give you an accurate picture of the over-all time you'll be without your unit.

What do I need to ship with the instrument?

Please include the power cord, the dual or triple tube assembly, the squeeze bulb or trigger button and of course the Quantifit or FitTester. We do not need adapters or masks.

How do I package it?

You can ship the unit in the big black Storm Case if your unit has one. You may want to secure the top with a cable tie through the lock hasp on the front for extra security. If you do not have a Storm case, use a very sturdy over-sized cardboard box with plenty of padding on all 6 sides. Use a ridiculous amount of tape on all closures and corners. Make sure you have included all of your vital information inside the case as well as your service return form.

Can I get someone locally to calibrate my unit?

No. As owners of this technology, we are the sole source for repair and calibrations. We have measurement devices that are unique to this calibration. Some of these instruments were designed for no other purpose than to calibrate a FitTester or a Quantifit. Calibrations done outside of OHD, LLC, will not be recognized by OSHA and would draw unwanted attention to your overall safety practices and programs.

Do I need to call you and let you know that I am sending the unit?

No. As long as you filled out and included the Service Return form, this will be the only notification we need. The only exception would be if you want expedited service, which would need to be scheduled.

Do I need an RMA number or form?

We do not issue RMA's for calibration. The customer may choose to use whatever shipping service is economically feasible. We include a shipping charge of $65.00 to return the unit to you covered under our insurance. You may choose to use your own account for both shipments, but we recommend you take advantage of our safe and secure return shipping service.

My instrument is running fine. Do I really have to have it calibrated every year?

Yes. OSHA requires you follow manufacturerís guidelines for maintenance and calibration.
